MUSIC THEORY CLASSES

Weekly instruction in music theory, in addition to private lessons, is also offered.

Music theory is the study of the structure of music, and how it is composed or written down. Studying theory enhances a student’s progress in playing an instrument, and helps in developing good musicianship skills. The school’s music theory classes are based on the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) program of study, a  comprehensive program in music theory from beginning to advanced levels. Instruction also prepares students for formal written testing at each level, if desired, administered by ABRSM. Our school arranges for students to take these exams when they are ready.

STUDIO CLASSES
In addition to recitals, students have the opportunity to practice performing in the less formal setting of a studio class with other students and the teacher as their audience.
  MASTER CLASSES

Students perform for, and are instructed by, a visiting artist/teacher in a public setting.

  AUDITIONS/COMPETITIONS

Students have the opportunity to participate in judged auditions and performances, both competitive and non-competitive, sponsored by musical organizations and associations of teachers on state and national levels.
